Have you found your art?

I’m an artist by heart, but I have suppressed this notion for years. I thought I only could do well if I helped and supported others.

Now I know that my purpose is much more than helping others – it’s about creating and inspiring. I absolutely love to express myself through art, thereby inspiring others.

I enjoy supporting others from time to time. Especially people who are ready to receive my input, build their own lead, and follow through on their own.

I know quite a few people who believed that they could only do well if they became famous in the spotlight. Some of them pursued that, and ended up realizing that their life purpose is more about supporting others.

It is both frustrating and painful when we get sidetracked from our core essence.

The reason, I believe, that so many of us lose the connection to our art, is due to the entanglement we endure as we are brought up. When we end up feeling like we are “wrong” in one way or the other, the urge to self-sabotage sets in.

In order to find or rediscover our unique art, we must be willing to experiment and try out different things, and take note of how it affects us while doing so.

I, for one, have been painting, acting, running, singing, riding, boxing, skiing, practicing yoga, ballet and disco, writing, teaching… The list goes on! Some of these activities, I really like. Some of them, not so much. However, by actually doing them, I started discovering what my taste is like, and I began establishing a stronger connection with my core essence.

Very often, our unique art is to find in the actions or dreams we had as a child. Even though I knew that I had to take the journey of feeling and healing, in order to get a grasp of my unique art.

I loved dancing, but it often felt like a burden because of the many competitions, outfits and costs. Now that I am an adult and my own parent, I can go all in and buy as many expensive outfits as I want. It is relieving, thrilling and healing.

For all of us, I believe it is about finding our art and then expressing it to our fullest and wildest ability, no matter what the art is about – be it supporting, healing, shining, singing, acting or whatnot.

Expressing ones artistic heart requires feeling and courage. A lot goes into it for me. Old pains surface, new feelings of aliveness arise, and my heart opens up even further.

It is the love for the craft and the love for yourself that will get you through.
